What new ventures is FHS taking on now? We are currently a 21st century school, pioneering a new learning tool throughout not only our county, but both state and nationwide. We hope for all our students to function with the best will all technology styles and techniques.
Business Technology Competetion
Students from our own Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have just finished competing in their selected fields, both with online tests and productions. Results should be in soon, and we will let you know more about this when more information is in.
On February 22, 13 students traveled to Jacksonville State University on to compete in many different areas. I, Melissa Crook won second place in website creation, for my work on this website. I will go on to the state level competetion in April at Auburn University in Montgomery.
Also on March 12, members of FBLA traveled to Southern Union to compete, where last year FHS took home the trophy for highest score overall. Good job to students, we had many winners! Visit Ms. Stewart's wiki to learn more about these events and these students. www.fhsbusinessmeeting.wikispaces.com
In April, those students that completed the earlier district competitions in February will go to Birmingham and stay at the Sheraton Hotel to compete at the State FBLA level. Click the above link to learn more about these.
Elluminate Sessions
I participated in the first ever student conference through elluminate, with the coordination of the Alabama Best Practices Center and our affiliation as a 21st century school. If you would like to learn more about this project, visit the wiki that explains this and shows the involvement of each school and student, from all around the state, and the tools that they are using. www.abpc.wikispaces.com Our first session was on January 29, and the second was on February 12. We discussed things such as new exciting technology tools, safety on the internet, and cyberbullying. I look forward to learning more on how to use these tools and sharing them with all of you!
